I entered public service early, beginning as a 17 year old combat medic and later working across EMS, fire, flight, tactical medicine, and emergency care. These roles placed me at the intersection of clinical decision-making, leadership, and human vulnerability, often in resource-limited settings.
Over time, I came to understand both the strengths and failures of the systems we rely on in moments of crisis.
After years of practicing advanced prehospital and critical care medicine, I recognized the limits of episodic care. I wanted deeper responsibility, longitudinal decision-making, and the ability to influence care beyond the first critical hour.
Pursuing medicine is not about leaving EMS behind — it is about building on it, chasing dreams and living with intention and purpose.
These principles shape how I learn, lead, and practice.
